Emmanuelle Collas Publishing House

As an independent publishing house, the company is led by Emmanuelle Collas, who — first with Galaade from 2005 to 2017 and then, starting in 2017, with the press bearing her name — has chosen to defend a strong and consistent editorial vision in French, Francophone and foreign literature.
The year 2020 marked a turning point with the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens, which awarded Djaili Amadou Amal's novel, Les Impatientes.

Emmanuelle Collas : An Unconventional Career Path

Historian of antiquity, holder of a doctorate in Literature and Humanities (University of Paris Sorbonne), lecturer at the University of Haute-Alsace, and author of the novel Sous couverture (Jean-Baptiste Gendarme series, Éditions Anne Carrière, 2020), Emmanuelle Collas has spent a great deal of time in Greece and the Middle East.

In 2005, she chose to leave academia to found a publishing house. At the intersection of literature and politics, she has published well-known authors such as Giorgio Caproni, Patrick Chamoiseau, Jean Daniel, Hrant Dink, Rhea Galanaki, Édouard Glissant, Abdulrazak Gurnah, Yoël Hoffman, Arnošt Lustig, Greil Marcus, Steven Milhauser, Samir Naqqash, Maurice Olender, Dubravka Ugrešić, Gore Vidal, Claude Vigée, and Irvin Yalom, as well as emerging talents such as Albena Dimitrova, Hakan Günday, Ursula Hegi, Helen Oyeyemi, and Murat Uyurkulak.

Since 2017, she has devoted herself exclusively to literature. New discoveries, the publisher's favorites. Djaïli Amadou Amal, Melih Cevdet Anday, Marie Bardet, Anouar Benmalek, Alexandre Bertin, Pierre Bignami, Ahmed Fouad Bouras, Selahattin Demirtaş, Khalil Diallo, Bruno Doucey, Inga Gaile, Nâzım Hikmet, Badiadji Horrétowdo, Sabrina Kassa, Mohamed Leftah, Timour Muhidine, Mutt-Lon, William Navarrete, Prajwal Parajuly, Iva Pezuashvili, Grażyna Plebanek, Walid Hajar Rachedi, Raja Shehadeh, Ezio Sinigaglia, Dimitris Stefanakis, Maïa Thiriet, Murielle Szac, and many others.

In this way, it has built up a long-standing catalog of prestigious names, one that also gives pride of place to new discoveries and has earned recognition over the years, as evidenced by numerous awards, including the 2015 Prix Médicis for Foreign Literature, the 2020 Prix Goncourt des Lycéens, the 2021 Nobel Prize in Literature, the 2022 SGDL Grand Prize for Fiction, the 2024 Prix Ivoire Special Mention, the 2024 VLEEL Prize, and the 2024 Montluc Resistance and Freedom Prize.

The catalog, the regions of the world, the languages, and the themes it explores are at the heart of the publisher's concerns—and certainly of its obsessions.
Thus, in a vast echo chamber, connections between languages, cultures, and global and contemporary themes (the personal and the political, tradition and modernity, migration and exile, identity and belonging, lineage and memory, wars and extremism, and even engagement and citizenship) intersect, in order to offer a vision of the world and attempt to find some keys to understanding it.

Who are we ?

Based in Paris, we publish sparingly to publish better. Primarily novels we can stand behind. Texts from all around the world.
The books are designed by Félix Demargne at the Cheeri graphic design studio.
We are supported by our distributor, Média Diffusion.
Even though the press has enjoyed great success, it remains a family- and friend-run operation. Alongside Emmanuelle stand Justine, as well as Judith, Félix, Sylvie,

France and Stéphane, who work with determination on the contemporary world, fight
together for literature, and cannot help but dream.
